Internship Opportunities

Every season the Cape May Whale Watch and Research Center welcomes undergraduates or recent graduates in marine biology, environmental science or a related field, to contribute to our data collection and education outreach events to gain hands-on experience in their field of study. Our interns join our captains and naturalists on whale and dolphin watches for data collection and passenger education with touch tank, marine debris, and whale baleen presentations.

Internships with the Cape May Whale Watch & Research Center

Intern tasks include:

  • Photographing marine mammals on whale and dolphin watching trips
  • GPS/Data collection and processing in Excel
  • Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphin fin matching and analyzing
  • Leading a touch tank, whale baleen and marine debris presentation
  • Maintenance of collected local species tanks
  • Educating passengers
  • Contributing to our research blog and creating an independent project
